Hey Dads, Does Thanksgiving Wear You Out Too?

Whew… Thanksgiving weekend is finally over. Now I need a vacation (or at least a long nap)!

It seems that I get completely worn out each year during the Thanksgiving holiday. What about you?

For me, normally things get busy and hectic, but this year was worse than normal.

Besides the typical energy sapping activities such as long car drives or turkey induced comas, this year I had several sleepless nights dealing with Olivia’s strep throat. I was also an usher in my cousin’s wedding last Saturday. So overall it was a very busy, sleep deprived week.

And in case you think I’m just being whinny, when I say long car drives, I mean LONG car drives. My in-laws live 9 hours away. :)

I’m Still Blessed

But don’t get me wrong. Despite my need for a good nap, I’m still feeling  blessed this holiday season.

Sure my daughter was sick, but I have a daughter who’s otherwise healthy and a pure joy. Sure I had to drive a LONG distance to visit family, but at least I have family to visit. Sure being an usher in my cousin’s wedding was more work than I expected, but it was a privilege to help her to enjoy her special day.

An Update

So no, the purpose of this post isn’t to whine and complain. Rather I just wanted to touch base and give everyone an update on how things are going.

Olivia is doing much better. We forgot her antibiotics at my sister’s house, but we called the pharmacy and got a refill, so everything’s fine.

Also I have several new posts started, and hope to publish them during the next two weeks. Stay tuned and be on the lookout for them!
