Removing Permanent Marker from HDTV Screen and Microfiber Couch

Olivia found a silver permanent marker and just marked all over our microfiber couch and the screen of our new LCD HDTV.

Talk about panic time!

I quickly did a Google search for removing permanent marker and found the following tips that work.

How to Remove Permanent Marker from HDTV LCD Screen

Take a standard dry-erase marker and use it to draw over the permanent marker on the screen. Once you’ve done that, use a whiteboard eraser to “erase” it.

This actually works and has saved my new Samsung HDTV. (Whew!)

How to Remove Permanent Marker from Microfiber Couch

Simply use hair spray and scrub. We grabbed my wife’s hair spray and sprayed it on the permanent marker lines, and then scrubbed it with a dry cloth. It took awhile to finish scrubbing as Olivia marked all over the couch, but everything came out fine.

Hope this Helps!

I hope you never come to the family room and discover your kid just marked all over your TV or furniture with permanent marker, but if you do, I hope these tips help you out as much as they helped me.

@ Ben – You’re more than welcome. Believe me, it was such a relief that it all came out! My co-workers asked how mad I was at Olivia. I honestly wasn’t mad at all. My first concern was getting it all clean, and once I knew it was all coming out, I felt so relieved there was zero room for anger. Besides Olivia is 2 years old. It was our fault we had a permanent marker within her reach. :)

Just want to thank you for posting this as I got permanent marker on our brand new sofa and felt sick when I saw myself drop the pen onto the sofa. I searched on the internet and your tip came up. After using the hairspray and scrubbing a few times it disappeared. I really couldn’t believe that hairspray would work but it did, thank you so much!!!!

@Karen – You’re welcome. I’m glad you got it out of the sofa. Did your heart stop beating for a sec when you realized what happened? I know mine did, and then it’s such a relief when it finally comes out.

Oh my god, you saved my LIFE. When I first read hairspray would save my couch I thought you where nuts. It was like Magic right before my eyes! Thank you a million times and more!

Wow – my 3 year old granddaughter took a red and blue permanent marker and colored the couch. I googled this and then had to run out and buy some hairspray. I sprayed the whole couch and then used a damp sponge and it all came out! I am so glad because I thought the couch was ruined. I will keep the hairspray handy because she is so curious! Thanks for passing this along!

Hygienic reasons for removing hair have been around for a
long while. Even ancient Egyptians removed all their body hair to prevent lice,
fleas and other parasite infestations. Luckily , hair removal has been made
less complicated by laser hair removal less time and less effort in the long
run. Once all the treatments are finished and the hair has been removed, hair
removing is no longer part of the daily beautification routine.
