Oh my god, you saved my LIFE. When I first read hairspray would save my couch I thought you where nuts. It was like Magic right before my eyes! Thank you a million times and more!

@Karen - You're welcome. I'm glad you got it out of the sofa. Did your heart stop beating for a sec when you realized what happened? I know mine did, and then it's such a relief when it finally comes out.

Just want to thank you for posting this as I got permanent marker on our brand new sofa and felt sick when I saw myself drop the pen onto the sofa. I searched on the internet and your tip came up. After using the hairspray and scrubbing a few times it disappeared. I really couldn't believe that hairspray would work but it did, thank you so much!!!!

@ Ben - You're more than welcome. Believe me, it was such a relief that it all came out! My co-workers asked how mad I was at Olivia. I honestly wasn't mad at all. My first concern was getting it all clean, and once I knew it was all coming out, I felt so relieved there was zero room for anger. Besides Olivia is 2 years old. It was our fault we had a permanent marker within her reach. :)
