This news story makes me sick to my stomach.
A father in Idaho was taking his two kids to their moms place, when his pickup truck got stuck in a snow drift. So the dad told the kids to walk the rest of the way to their mother’s place. The problem is she lived 10 miles away from where they got stuck!
This dad told his kids to walk 10 miles… in Idaho… in the winter…
The 11 year old daughter died from hypothermia, and the 12 year old son is lucky to be alive.
I realize the guy never meant for his daughter to die, but he is stupid, and his stupidity cost his daughter her life. Sorry, but there’s no better way to say it.
You NEVER EVER leave your vehicle if it gets stuck in the snow. Unless you can actually see a safe building that’s really close by (and even that’s usually not possible in a winter storm)… and I mean like “right there 100 yards away” then you never leave your vehicle.
You certainly don’t tell your kids to walk 10 miles when it’s 27 degrees and colder outside.
This dad deserves to spend the rest of his life in prison.

Wow! This story is sickening and disturbing. I’d carry my two kids on my back for 50 miles before I would tell them to walk by themselves.
