5 Special Family Time Ideas for Dads

Family Time As a dad, it’s important to occasionally do something really special for the family. Doing special things as a family helps build memories for your children, and it has the added bonus of being romantic for your wife.

Trust me, everyone loves special family times!

So with this post, I’d like to share some of my ideas that you can use as inspiration for your own special family times.

Special Family Time Ideas

Make Pancakes
Wake up early on a Saturday, and make breakfast for the whole family. I’m talking the full menu here… pancakes, eggs, toast, bacon, rolls, whatever it is your family loves. Offer to clean the dishes afterwards, and your wife will love it even more!
Go Swimming
Make reservations at a nearby hotel that has one of those really nice swim areas, and surprise the family on Friday night after work. There’s something great about staying at a hotel nearby and going swimming, and you’ll get to enjoy it together as a family.
Backyard Camping Trip
Setup the tent in the backyard on a weekend, and surprise the family with a mini camping trip. If it’s cold outside, then setup the dome tent in the living room (which is a great treat in the winter)! Make sure to have smores and have everyone sleep in their sleeping bags. Let the kids stay up late and tell stories or sing songs.
Organize a Nintendo Wii Bowling Tournament
Get out a big whiteboard or poster board, and draw out the tournament brackets. You could even decorate the family room in honor of the tournament. Put up posters around the house a few days before the tournament begins so that the kids really get excited. If Nintendo Wii Bowling is not your thing, then substitute any type of game that your family loves.
Go Tubing
If you live in a place that gets snow, take the family and go tubing. Most communities have recreational areas specifically for this purpose, where you can rent the tubes and warm up in the lodge. Hot chocolate makes it even better! If you don’t get snow where you live, then take the family tubing on the lake when it’s nice out. They’ll love it!

Whatever You Do, Make It Special

Whatever you do, just make sure that from time to time, you do something special for the family. It will show them just how much dad loves his family!
