We’ve been teaching Olivia for over a year to pray every night before she goes to bed. Sometimes its a struggle—mostly because she knows that bedtime prayer means its bedtime—but overall she seems to enjoy praying.
“Now I lay me down to sleep?” She knows that one by heart. Then after we say amen to that prayer, we always say another prayer to bless the members of the family.
“Please bless daddy, and mommy, and olivia, and sammie. In Jesus name. Amen.”
It’s quite adorable watching her fold her hands and say her prayers. I’m one proud daddy, that’s for sure!
Occasionally when either Shan or I aren’t feeling well, we’ll also ask Olivia to pray for us. At first when we did this, she’d fold her hands and recite the “Now I lay me down to sleep” prayer. But recently she’s begun saying an actual prayer instead.
“Please help daddy feel better, and not to be sick any more. In Jesus name. Amen.”
Like I said, I couldn’t be any prouder of Olivia and her prayers.
Do you teach your kids to pray?

Very cool – my oldest daughter is named Olivia. We haven’t taught her how to pray…in a nutshell, it’s something that the wife and I have been neglecting for a while now.
Thanks for the follow on Twitter and hope to see you around. Have a great new year.
